Veronika Dobers is a female artist born in Germany.
While she works with drawing, printing, making animations, she recently developes a unique series of works by using a traditional craft art rarely found today. It is to paint reversed images of motifs with oil on the back of acrylic boards.
In her works, Dobers draws specific motifs like houses, humans, boats and flowers as if they are floating in the air. Especially those motifs, such as bundles or heaps of straws and drops of water, are emerged in Dobers’ works for a long time.
However, in her works, those motifs are being converted to the abstract that are cut off from usual environment. Figurative motifs of straw heaps, bundles, drops become characterized as what are gathered, stocked and spread, they become monumental. And they start to talk with abstract form existing in memories that every viewer has.
