Gallery Yamaki Fine Art is pleased to announce that it holds a solo show of Hiroko KUBO, an energetic visual artist, to introduce latest works from 3 separated series.

Hiroko KUBO (1987-) finished a course of Master of art at Texas Christian University and now lives and works in Hiroshima, her home prefecture. Through the minute research in the prehistoric art, ethnic art, and cultural anthropology, she has created works to show human’s creative work or dynamism of imagination at exhibitions like ART SETOUCHI 2016, for example, on the subject of agriculture or idol using materials familiar to our lives. What do we, who live on the tip of the continuation of creativity from the prehistoric time, inherit and what are we indifferent to? Giving much thought to the imagination of the ancient people, the artist ponders upon the impact of our ancestor on the modern life. Thus created works inspire primitive imagination the viewers have.

The installation to be exhibit is her latest and ambitious work that reflects Kubo’s, who specialized in sculpture, interpretation on the ubiquitous goddess killing folktale, which tells the story that the death of goddess was the origin of our lives, food. On this thematic imagery, the artist doubles her theme, the destruction of sculpture, in an attempt to question the creativity of the present and in the future. What appears before our eyes will be the symbolic sight of the creative Earth where the all things are in the state of flux, the mixture of the death and the lives, destruction and construction, history and non-history.
