Takesada MATSUTANI

From about 1960, MATSUTANI started to emply venyl bond that had been produced soon after the war. With this, he created relief-like art work by making use of its behaviour to shape organically. Sensuous shapes that were draping or swelling up on the surface were acclaimed as the new possibilities of paintings and higly appreciated. And this caught eyes of Jiro Yoshihara too and MATSUTANI was allowed to be a member of the Gutai Art Association. He went over to France at the age of 29 with the scholarship granted by the French government. He has been living in Paris since and divided his time between France and Japan. In 2017 he participated in the Venice Biennale for the main section.
