Keiji UEMATSU

Keiji Uematsu (1969-) is an artist based in Osaka, Japan and in Düsseldorf, Germany. Since his first solo show in Kyoto, he has been active in many parts of the world. Elected as a representative artist for Venice Biennale in 1988. From the conceptional works of the 70s to the recently increased outdoor sculpture in and outside Japan, this artist continuously use and arrange the materials like wood, stone, fabric, metal to catabolize the space, and tries to make the viewers to realize the universal power that exists behind the human perception such as gravity and magnetic field.
