Mori no Iro

Gallery Yamaki Fine Art is pleased to present the exhibition “Mori no Iro” from July 27 to September 3, 2022.
The exhibition will feature two-dimensional works with a rich sense of color by six contemporary artists. By treating the canvas or paper surface as a “place” without a center, they approach the possibilities of expression from a very unique perspective, transcending traditional painting that depicts the subject in a reproductive manner.
Their works are not process-driven expressions like action paintings, which also do not have the same center.

The works presented in this exhibition focus on the tension created by the overlapping and interaction of atypical, geometric, and flat areas of color.

In this exhibition, colors seem to extend outward from the viewer’s field of vision, like the ocean or a forest, when confronted with red, blue, or green. This is a delicate and cerebral exhibition of works in which the colors themselves give the impression of a “place = forest.”

Exhibiting artists: Kimiyo Mishima, Louis Cane, Tatsuo Kawaguchi, Kenji Inumaki, Kazuyo Kinoshita, Eri Morimoto
