“Summer Trip”

Gallery Yamaki Fine Art announces a collection exhibition: Summer Trip. While the circumstances of COVID-19 continue to limit our range of activities, the power of art inspires us to take an imaginative trip. Summer Trip will exhibit more than ten works which have been curated with “trip” as a keyword. We are sure that this exhibition will offer a kind of imaginative trip into the minds of the artists. 

 A trip is always a source of inspiration for artists. Traveling in space-time, they create unique and conceptual landscapes. Memories of trips are recorded with images and texts in the works by Jean LE-GAC and Michio FUKUOKA. They visualize the unique inner world of the artists by directly expressing their traces of thought that deepen through traveling.

 Tatsuo KAWAGUCHI, who conceptually travels in time, tries to communicate with the past by using contemporary materials and techniques. This time travel attempts to find the universal energy that connects the creativities of modern and ancient times.

 For Louis CANE, on the other hand, a trip can be compared to a process of rediscovering the natural landscapes of France. Using innovative materials and installation, he discovered French colors and forms which had been nurtured in his mother country. A new art movement was even formed from the forward-looking landscape paintings created from such traditions.

 Also today’s coronavirus pandemic has brought an unprecedented change into every phase of our lifestyles. Photographs by Min-ho LEE and Jeorg LEHMANN straightforwardly express the anticipation and excitement before traveling and takes our hearts on a small trip. It is said that when a traveler reflects their spirit onto the landscape, their spirit is freed. 

 Kuniyosi IXIMA and Asuka NAKAYAMA observe modern life from unique perspectives as if experiencing it on a trip. Their highly original works invite us to perceive our familiar daily lives with fresh eyes.
